Since United Nations International Human Rights Day, December 10, 2006, 5 Rights has worked to build local and sustainable communities with 5 human rights, through education, service and action projects. Below is a timeline of our development:

58th Annual U.N. Human Rights Day.
5 Rights Inc was incorporated as a non-partisan, 501(c)(3) public charity the week of 12.10.06.
12.05.07:
National Economic + Social Rights Initiative: Symposium.
5 Rights has supported NESRI Symposia, featuring Co-Founder Dr. Paul Farmer, since December 2007.
12.10.07:
59th Annual U.N. Human Rights Day.
The Dispatch Foundation and 5 Rights celebrated December 10th with the dvd release of Dispatch:Zimbabwe from NYC’s Madison Square Garden.

Local. Homeless. Brunch.
Since MLK Weekend ’08, 5 Rights, partner orgs., and local musicians have supported our neighbors at the Pine Street Inn Shelter for the Homelesss.

Millennium Campus Conference: Eradicate. Extreme. Poverty.
5 Rights worked with The Dispatch Foundation, Grassroot Soccer and The Millennium Campus Network to produce the 2500-person, Millennium Campus Conference, featuring Dr. Paul Farmer and Dr. Jeffrey Sachs.

State Radio Concert: Human. Rights. Outreach.
Prior to the birth of State Radio’s human rights and public service non-profit, Calling All Crows, 5 Rights worked with Amnesty Int’l, Bikes Not Bombs, City Year, Elias Fund, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Physicians for Human Rights, and others to produce human rights outreach for the 4000-person State Radio concert at Bank of America Pavillion.

Grassroot Soccer: Dribble to Kick AIDS.
Before 5 Rights advisory board member and Grassroot Soccer co-founder, Ethan Zohn, dribbled a soccer ball from Boston to Washington, D.C. (500 miles), we produced his kickoff concert prior to a New England Revolution (Major League Soccer) match.

Global Mala of Boston: Yoga + U.N. Peace Day.
On U.N. International Peace Day, 5 Rights co-produced a 500-person yoga and music event in Boston.

60th Annual U.N. Human Rights Day.
Calling All Crows and 5 Rights celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with 5 days of education, service and action, including rare solo performances by Chad Stokes (State Radio and Calling All Crows).

U.N. Stand Up!: Take Action + End Poverty Now!
5 Rights and the New England Revolution’s Kheli Dube teamed up with our friends at the Millennium Campus Network to produce a 750-person event for U.N. International Eradication of Poverty Day.

5 Rights Executive Director, Jeff Lipman started working with Sport In Society, a Northeastern University Center, as a Visting Fellow, focused on making The 5 Rights Football Club a college-accredited summer program, which will pilot in Boston and expand to 25 major cities across the USA.

5 Rights Executive Director, Jeff Lipman returns to Boston until January 2012′s College Soccer Winter Campus Tour. During these 8 months, he will continue to work with 5 Rights as a Visiting Fellow with Sport In Society, a Northeastern University Center.

The 5 Rights Football Club: Fall NCAA College Soccer Match Events.
Starting this fall, men’s and women’s college soccer teams choose to warm-up in 5 Rights FC jerseys, and invite on-campus and off-campus human rights-based organizations* and local sustainable businesses to table around the stadium (*i.e.: issues of water, food, health, housing, education, employment, social security; and economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights).
